One of the first things you'll want to do at your new home is change all the locks. Doing so not only improves your family's security but also helps the house feel more like your own. Calling a professional to complete the service saves you time and offers peace of mind knowing the job is done right the first time.

Did you know about the Texas Solar Incentives?

  • TXU Renewable Buyback Plan: Earn money by selling the extra power your solar panels produce to TXU Energy.
  • Solar Rebates: Texas utility companies are currently offering solar rebates that will help you earn money from your system. The companies include Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative, Garland Power and Light, the City of Sunset Valley, CPS Energy, and Austin Energy. Austin Energy offers rebates for as much as $2,500, as well as Austin Energy’s Value of Solar Tariff. This gives $0.097 for each kilowatt-hour, kWh, your panels produce. Not an Austin Energy customer? That’s okay, CPS Energy’s rebate will pay you up to $1.20 per watt of solar panels on your roof.
  • Solar Rights Laws: In Texas, private property owner’s associations like the HOA can’t interfere with the solar panels on your home or prevent you from installing.
  • State Property Tax Exemption: Installing a solar system in your home will increase the value of your home. However, Texas has an exemption that keeps the increase free from state taxation.
  • Net Metering: While Texas doesn’t have a state-wide net metering system, there are utility companies within the state offering compensation for energy production. These include Green Mountain Energy, El Paso Electric, CPS Energy, and the City of Brenham.
  • Federal Solar Tax Credit (ITC): Installing a solar system on your home means you gain access to a 26% exemption on the purchase.

Moving with Pets

If you're bringing furry friends to your new home, you'll want to make sure they're safe, comfortable, and have the items they need to adjust to their new space. Keep them in mind when planning your move to ensure they're stress-free and ready throughout the process.

Managing Your Pet's Anxiety

Giving your pet extra attention, a calm and quiet place to stay, and in some cases, medication, can help make moving less stressful.

Pet Essentials Bag

Make sure you can quickly access the items your pet needs like food, water bowls, cat litter, etc.

Pet Safe Space

Set up a comfortable room for your pet in your new home with everything they need. Be patient while they get used to their new surroundings!

Bring Pets in Last

Keep in mind that you don't want your animals to be in the way or trip anyone during the moving process. Instead, bring them in when there's familiar furniture and smells so they're more comfortable.

Getting to know your neighbors.

Having a trusted neighbor is an important part of keeping your home safe. Instead of hiding a key under your doormat or a potted plant (one of the first places intruders look), you can ask a neighbor to keep a spare key. You can also help each other by watching for suspicious activity around your home.
